ASIAN MOVIE REVIEWS: HORROR (intro page)
Thumbs up to A-Horror!
Truly, the only thing more frightening than this photo (especially the extreme shot up my nostrils) is ASIAN HORROR MOVIES. Even Hollywood started recognizing (or ripping off) their sense of the creepy with numerous remakes. A few were actually very good I'll admit. But, for me, I still prefer to stick with the originals. I own an ever growing collection of all things asian in the movie department. So, in an effort to add a little something different to my "art website," I decided to create a movie review section focusing entirely on asian cinema. This particular chunk will be dedicated exclusively to horror & other supernatural themed films.
Who knows...maybe I can inspire you to take a chance on a flick you've never considered, or, heck...even heard of. Just be willing to leave your normal expectations and sensibilities at the door when watching. Their cultures sometimes see and do things a little differently and it's often reflected by the filmmakers in their craft. You may not understand some of the religious, social and political references, or, be familiar with a certain piece of the native country's folklore and so on. But, as it's a good thing to learn about other cultures, you should try to be open minded. Remember, you can always study up on the parts you didn't quite get with a quick internet search...right? Then, go back and try the film again. Sometimes a second viewing is required for adapting our rigid little brains to new concepts anyhoo. Hmmmmmm? Oh, as always everything is divided up on categorized pages to make things easier to find. Soooooooo, have fun and enjoy!!!!!!
