Size: Aprox. 24 & 1/2 x 17 & 1/2 inches

Materials: Glue, cardboard, napkins, paper pulp & acrylic paint.

Description:
This is a papier mache(ish) piece with some elements of collage. The materials I used made this sculpture as hard as a rock yet light as a feather. Since one of my goals was to create things that were visually interesting, thick & texturey, as well as tough & lightweight, I think this method is perfect. It was officially my
second attempt at working in this medium.

Further notes: Ready to hang-- I built a saw tooth hanger into the back of the sculpture. All that's needed to hang it up is a simple nail.  Also, because of the weight it can be hung safely on even the thinnest wall. Oh, it is NOT recommended for outdoor use btw!!!!!

SPOOKY CLOSEUP: EYE SEE U
Size: Aprox. 21 1/2 x 20 inches  (from all the pointy bits)

Materials: Glue, cardboard, toilet paper rolls, sand, paper pulp, cornstarch, acrylic paint.

Description:
Yeah, I know...what's up with the title? Well Mr. or Mrs. curious pants, I'm gonna leave that for you to figure out. Same goes with the sculpture itself. For me it's not so important what I was trying to express, it's more about what you see. If you see it as something then that's what it is. If you see it as nothing...then it is nothing. Whether something or nothing, it's another papier mache(ish) wall sculpture thingy. It's constructed with multiple layers as you can see from the two side shots.

I had an urge to create something curled and peeley looking-- you know, like peeling paint with a look of decay about it. I even encouraged the backing to curve outward to create a warped effect. Sooooo, this is the odd thing that emerged from the strange recesses of my brain matter.

As of  today I'm still not certain that it's a finished piece to tell the truth. I have the hardest time deciding sometimes. But, I thought I'd post it anyway. I'll let the viewers decide. Feel free to comment below.

Materials: Coloured polymer clay with various metals for backing/support.

Description:
Okie dokey...here's one of the fantasy(ish) pieces for you. I call it a polymer clay "painting" since I mixed and used coloured clay much the same way I would've used thick paint. As a result it's like a flat image with relief. Oh, pay special attention to the stars. See the little faces??? This was the first and one of the only times I've ever done what they call "caning." That's where you create a face (or whatever) 3 dimensionally in a roll and you cut thin slices and apply them. I found it to be too much trouble even though I liked the way it looked on this piece. Have never done it again since this (and one failed--lol) project. It's a hanging sculpture btw.

Sculptures is fun!
